Obviously a 40-year-old concept album can't match the sumptuous orchestrations or sound quality we have with the 1996 Lyceum Theatre recording, but even so, this is the sound of Jesus Christ While critics were lukewarm to the production, the studio cast recording is popular among Superstar fans. I am a huge fan of Jesus Christ Superstar- I own the DVD from the 70s with Ted Neeley and have the Original Concept Album, which I love to death. This recording isn't worth buying unless you are a die hard fan like me and you are interested in the sound.
